Your wedding.

I’ve been to a LOT of weddings and although every wedding is different, the event can usually be broken down into four main parts. I’m going to explain them briefly here and show you how live music can be used during any and all of these parts to enhance the atmosphere and entertain your guests, set your wedding apart from the rest, and create moments to remember for a lifetime!

The Ceremony

Before anything important happens, your guests have to take their seats. This is a great moment for me to play some lush background instrumental music on my guitar - people still chat as they enter, but the music creates a hushed anticipation in the room before the bride appears.

Keeping my eyes peeled for a signal, I will seamlessly transition into the song you have chosen for the bridal entrance. This song is the soundtrack to when the groom and all your guests get their first glimpse of the bride entering behind the bridal entourage.

Some ceremonies pause whilst the register is signed and at this point I can often fit two or three songs in whilst photos are taken and your guests are waiting for the final part of the ceremony.

Finally, as the bride and groom turn to face their guests I can begin to play the music for your exit. This part is about energy and celebration as we release the pent up tension of the ceremony on your way out!

Drinks Reception

Although it’s also known as the “cocktail hour” this part of the day usually take more like 2hrs as you’ll need time to pose for group photos and portraits, as well as have time to greet and mingle with your guests!

This is probably the part of the day that I’m booked for more than any other and it’s great fun to let the music really enhance the atmosphere as the guests get their first chance to properly speak to each other and celebrate the couple!

Rather than just have your guests wait around for their turn to be in a photo, they can be enjoying the music you’ve helped me pick whilst having drinks and canapés.

Wedding Breakfast

Named so because it’s your first meal together as a married couple! You could have some playlist playing some background music under the hum of conversation as guests wait for the next course of food, or you could add some extra class to proceedings by having me play some of your favourite songs.

Evening Reception

This is where the party REALLY gets started! Some couples want my performance to help transition into the evening as evening guests arrive and have me get everyone warmed up for a band or DJ, but often I’m the main act. Either way, my sound system includes a 2000W subwoofer to enhance the rhythms and I can combine looping beats and drum triggers with layered guitars and vocals to create the kind of energy that really fills a dance floor.
